The side panels and the centre of the dial are exquisitely painted with garden birds nesting amongst flowers. Over-glaze gilt decoration is studded with red and white porcelain ‘jewels’. The dial is part of the front panel and is complete with original finely fretted gilt hands.
The French movement is by Japy Frères and is of superb quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock, please ask and we will send you a link.
Condition of the case is very good, gilding is clean and bright with some wear to the gilding particularly on the high spots, where the clock has been handled, and some discolouration and tarnish. Porcelain is also very good with wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration, dial lettering and some applied jewels are missing.
