This elegant and stunning Mid-20th Century wool rug has been manufactured in France in 1960 circa following the French Neoclassical style. There is two types of antique French carpet: Savonnerie or Aubussons. They have similar colors and drawings, the difference between Savonnerie and Aubussons is the wool thikness. It is consistent for Savonnerie therefore more valuable, instead lighter and made with needlepoints for the rugs Aubussons. This rug is a precious Savonnerie. The central medallion is typical of French Empire style. The pastel colors of flower’s bunches, like pink, blue, light green, and they are used with a great skill. The neutral tones mixed make the rug an elegant color touch in every room.
