Salt or spice shaker. Silver. Lizasoain. Spain, Madrid, 1768.
With contrast markings.
Silver spice rack in its color with a frustoconical body, sinuous lower edge that rests on scrolled legs, hemispherical bowl without divisions, dome-shaped lid (with lines creating segments), and decorated with plant and architectural elements of high relief. Typologically, it is a spice rack belonging to a somewhat peculiar tradition or model, frequent in Córdoba and Madrid but also present in Gerona, Antequera, etc. the contrast marks place its completion in 1768, in Madrid, and by the hand of a silversmith surnamed Lizasoaín. Although three masters are known by this surname, the most prominent in his time, both for his work and for his contemporaries, was Miguel Antonio Lizasoaín, a Navarrese who was active between 1735 and 1779, the year of his death, in the Spanish capital.
Weight: 300 grams. · Size: 9 x 6.5 x 8 cms
