In 1774, Saxon court minister Count Camillo Marcolini became the director of the Meissen Porcelain Factory. During this period, domestic German porcelain production and consumption flourished as political conflict prevented imports from France, Austria, Prussia, and other European countries. This cup and saucer set honors Marcolini’s leadership with silhouette portraits of him, his wife Maria Anna O’Kelly, and his young daughter.
