A beautiful tilt-top occasional table that was made in Italy, circa 1870. The table is heavily decorated with marquetry or intarsia that is made of various precious kinds of wood such as olive, walnut, mahogany, and fruitwood. The table has as 0,6 inch thick top with rounded corners and a central inlay of the Classic Saint George and the Dragon image. It is surrounded by a geometrical inlay pattern. The tabletop has a skirt of 2.17 inches high and hides a drawer. The drawer can be locked into a position with a brass pin that prevents the drawer from falling out when the tabletop is in an upright position. The table has a central turned column with scrolled legs and further inlay or intarsia. The tabletop can be locked into position with a wooden slider. The support column has a wooden swivel on top that lets the top be taken off. The whole table has a warm honey color and is finished with shellac and wax. It is in a very good authentic condition.
