Antique English Victorian Silver Plate Revolving Tureen

Antique English Victorian Silver Plate Revolving Tureen (also known as a bun warmer or a breakfast dish), having an oval form with hinged dome decorated with repousse florals and two plain cartouches. Inside is the liner (for hot water) and the pierced mazarine; all raised on cabriole legs ending in paw feet with lion’s head at the knees. Well-marked on the base: Elkington & Co. (Birmingham, England) and in a central shield, “EKC” and in four separate shields, “EK”, “&”, “Co”, and “M” [See page 54 in Rainwater’s Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers]. 1 in a circle, and the stock number, 17470; circa 189. The condition is great but for the missing ivy insert on the handle.
