Vintage Design
Teak chest of drawers with chrome recessed pulls, designed by Gordon Bunschaft and manufactured by De Coene for the Belgium Lambert Bank, circa 1960. The credenza features seven drawers with a lock on the side. The piece is finished on all sides so it can also work well as a room divider. The inside is completely veneered in oak. Gordon Bunshaft is an important American architect. Inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, he is adept at a Minimalist style. In 1952, he built the “Lever House”, the first skyscraper in Manhattan that is composed mainly of glass, for which he received the Pritzker Prize in 1988.
