Chinese Porcelain Red Meiping Pair

Chinese porcelain red meiping pair, a matching pair of finely formed, plum shape vases with a vibrant, Imperial red and white glazed exterior, a white glazed interior and an unglazed, inset base. The bodies of the vases are decorated with finely drawn, alternating, hibiscus and Buddhist rose medallions quartered on the body amid curving vines with leaves and flowers. The neck of the vase is banded by twelve Ru Yi lappets of repeating Taoist symbols. The shoulder of the vase Is decorated with three pomegranates alternating with three pineapples amid curving vines with leaves and flowers. The foot is decorated with a wide band of eight, large lappets with stylized, Taoist, Fu Bats above flaming Pearls of Wisdom. A blue, horizontal, six character, Xuande, reign mark is glazed just below both necks. The Chinese, traditional, finely carved, hongmu stands are included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
