A rare and monumental French 19th century neo-classical st. burl ash, ebony and ormolu mounted cabinet vitrine with the original capital and fitted clock signed FOREST. This spectacular cabinet is comprised of a striking display vitrines at either side with the original fitted glass doors and a central recessed niche with a fitted mirror. Each vitrine is framed within striking columns with rich ormolu plinths and capitals and are exquisitely adorned with richly chased ormolu mounts of pierced palmettes. The doors opens to reveal the cabinet makers stamp and three original adjustable shelves. The central niche displays three panels framed within decorative ebony fillets showcasing the stunning burl ash grain. Below is the central mirror plate with rounded top corners and a beveled edge that follows the contour of the mottled ebony frame. The striking ebony top crown has an extremely elegant capital with carved scrolled design elements and fine ormolu mounts flanking the white enameled clock, signed FOREST encased in a pierced berried laurel swaging garland. Atop is a majestic and richly detailed finely chased ormolu eagle with spread wings.
