1950’s Original French Tolix H Metal Caf? Dining Stools Bright Blue – Set Of Four. Tolix is one of our all time favourite companies. In 1907 Frenchman Xavier Pauchard discovered that he could protect sheet metal from rusting by dipping it in molten zinc (galvanisation) and a few years later he set up his factory producing steel furniture. Tolix was the creator and founder of perhaps the most iconic cafe chair of all time, the Tolix model A, designed in 1934 and sadly now copied worldwide. The H stool by Tolix is also an icon of industrial French design and this set comes from the French air force. Retaining their original paint and in exceptional original condition, look closely and you will see some of the X cross supports have been rewelded, presumably by the air force workshops, and you can also see very minor production variations across the stools a fascinating history from Tolix. Totally original Tolix survivors many still retain the original rubber feet. Seat Height 45cm.
