Framework. Carved and gilded wood, 18th century.
Rectangular frame with a semicircular finish in the center of the upper part, crowned by a composition with leaves and elements of the Passion of Christ (Crown of Thorns, Nails …) decorated by a series of bands, alternating smooth with two different pearl strings each. Although the eighteenth century is known for the Rococo, it is not the only artistic style of the time: the decoration and forms of the frame show a greater proximity to ancient Roman art, a common influence on Neoclassicism.”
