Neoclassical, sterling silver mug/cup, Providence, Rhode Island, Ca. 1880’s, Whiting Mfg. Co. – maker. Measures almost 4 inches high x 4 1/2 inches wide from edge of handle to outer edge of rim of cup x 3 inches diameter of opening. Gilded interior. Weighs 5.940 troy ounces. Reeded birder on base. Designed with two figures leaning on either side of the cartouche which has an interlocking monogram that looks like it is part of the design (see photos). The bottom of the cartouche is designed with the face of the mythological Green Man (a good luck symbol). Dark spots on silver in photos are reflections. In excellent antique condition.
