Early 1900’s figural centerpiece of partially nude women on a conch shell. This large bowl/planter has a matte glaze finish with natural colors.
This piece, in very fine condition, bears Royal Dux’s early triangle maker’s mark, dating this to the turn of the 20th century.
Located in Dux, Bohemia (now Czech Republic), the company’s pieces are sought after for their fine quality craftsmanship in the styles of Copenhagen, Worcester and Sevres. Their distinct glaze, as seen on this piece, gives the finish a soft, velvet feel.
This piece was acquired from a Boston estate, where it was displayed in a protected cabinet for several decades.
