Vintage Provincial Swedish Louis XVI Style Painted Corner Cabinet by de Bournay

Born in France in the mid-20th century, exquisitely hand-crafted in Swedish Gustavian Louis XVI taste, featuring high-quality craftsmanship and construction, having a unique trapezoid shape with flat back and angled sides that all it to be placed against a wall on in a variety of different corners, surmounted by a molded cornice, gilt painted accents, open bookshelf / display with adjustable shelves, over a single cupboard door, flanked by fluted pilasters, the verso stamped “de Bournay”; de Bournay is a fine quality French-based furniture maker known for its masterful reproductions of antique furniture.

Overall from back of cabinet to front of protruding cornice is 20″. The back to the front of the case is 16.5″. It’s designed so it can be placed against a wall or in a corner. Since it has a flat back, a 90 degree corner will add approx 10″, bringing the total depth to 30″ to the cornice and 26.5″ to the cabinet front.

Condition:
Great original unrestored vintage condition. Nicely aged patina with character and rustic charm. Wear consistent with age and use, including scattered nicks, minor chippy paint losses. Nothing that detracts from the display or functionality but only adds to the overall authenticity, elegant rustic warmth, timeless sophistication, and rich historical depth that can only be acquired over long periods of time
